Synthetic Ingredients

Consumers should familiarize themselves to these common health and beauty product additives. Try to look for products that do not contain these, conclusive research has not occurred indicating they are safe for long-term exposure. In fact, the FDA is aware that some of these ingredients are in fact toxic and/or carcinogenic. Sixty percent of everything we apply to our skin or come in contact with is absorbed by the body.

PROPYLENE GLYCOL or HUMECTANT
is really "industrial anti-freeze" and the major ingredient in brake and hydraulic fluid. Tests show it can be a strong skin irritant and it can cause liver abnormalities and kidney damage.

MINERAL OIL
comes from crude oil (petroleum) Healthy skin needs to take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide, in other words, skin needs to breathe. Mineral oil can suffocate the skin.

PETROLEUM
has the same properties as Mineral Oil.

SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE (SLS) and SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (SLES)
is a standard skin irritant to compare the healing properties of other ingredients. It may form potentially carcinogenic nitrates and dioxins and allow them to easily enter the body.

PARABENS (Methyl, Propyl, Butyl and Ethyl)
are artificial and chemical additives that are used to preserve cosmetics. They may cause cancer and liver damage.

DIETHANOLAMINE (DEA), TRIETHANOLAMINE (TEA)
are used in cosmetics as emulsifiers. DEA and TEA are ammonia compounds and may form cancer-causing nitrosamines when mixed with nitrates. They potentially may be toxic when absorbed into the body over a duration.

PVP/VA COPOLYMER
is a petroleum-derived airborne chemical most commonly used in hairsprays and styling aids. It may be toxic and result in lung irritation and cancer.

DIAZOLIDINYL UREA, IMIDAZOLIDINYL UREA
are preservatives, found under the trade name Germall. The American Academy of Dermatology has related them to be a primary cause of contact dermatitis. Both these chemicals release toxic formaldehyde.

FRAGRANCE
can contain upwards of 200 individual chemical ingredients that the FDA does not require to be listed individually; they are lumped under the heading “fragrance”.  Look for products without fragrance or with “natural fragrance.” Moore Naturally does not use any fragrance in our products; each products odor is directly related to the herbs that form its medicinal benefits.
